Located right off rue St. Anne, Paris' ramen district, this little gem is definitely one of my favourite places to come and sip on a flat white while sporting one of my Christmas jumpers. There are only a few little tables, so it's a bit tricky to enjoy your café sur place at times, but it's only a stone's throw from the lovely Jardin du Palais Royal, so if you can't drink your coffee inside, go for a walk in the area and enjoy the takeaway décor.
The
place is run by one French and one American guy, Nicolas Leclerc and David
Flynn, who never fail to provide a tasty musical background to your delectable
beverage. I buy my beans here (normally about 9.80E/250g, which they roast at
Café Coutume and stamp with the Télescope owl).
If
you're hungry, they normally have an assortment of sweet/savoury nibbles like
quiches, pizzas, cheesecake, crumble, banana bread, amongst other exciting
things. There are also breakfast options like granola and the usual tartine
kinda deal.
The
coffee itself (I only ever really drink flat white/café crème) has never let me
down. They also do this great thing where they serve you sparkling water from
an old-school soda stream device.
Seriously
worth a visit.
